ESPN cricket columnist Mark Nicholas has apologised to West Indies men’s captain Darren Sammy and his side for his “no brains” comment before the start of the ICC T20 World Cup.
Nicholas, a former Hampshire County Cricket captain and current TV commentator on Australia’s Channel Nine network said before the series started that the West Indies were, “short of brains but have IPL history in their ranks”.
On the eve of the final, Sammy made a point to express his displeasure with those comments, saying “to describe our team who were defending champions four years ago as guys with no brains is really out of order.”
On Sunday, Sammy’s side beat England in a dramatic final by four wickets, which prompted Nicholas, to write his apology in another column yesterday.
