THE SECOND DAY OF THE CACSO SPORTS ADMINISTRATION SEMINAR WAS HELD WITH GREAT SUCCESS

VENEZUELA (Wednesday, August 12, 2020).- The second day of the 1^st Seminar on Sports Administration of the Central American and Caribbean Sports Organization (CACSO) continued the success of the opening day by registering a large number of participants throughout the four presentations conducted by the speakers.

More than 1000 people entered with their respective link to the Zoom platform, and more than 200 did so through YouTube, to hear what Christopher Samuda from Jamaica, Nicole Hoevertsz from Aruba, Salman Brache from the Dominican Republic and Mario Cilenti from Argentina, exposed with great mastery and detail in their respective interventions.

The first to do so was the President of the Jamaica Olympic Association, Christopher Samuda, who explained from his experience as sports and Olympic leader, the importance of the Olympic Charter and how it should be used together with values and ethics to carry out the functions relevant in sports administration.

Nicole Hoevertsz, IOC member, gave an account of the advances on the issues of women in sport. Highlighting the increase in participation in Olympic events and how women have gained spaces in the Regional, Continental and World sports leadership, as is the case in the International Olympic Committee. She also added however, that the road is long and there are still spaces to occupy.

Then, Salman Brache, presented through his slides the strategic planning process used in CACSO to expand the radius of action and how the great organizations of the world, not only sports, plan in the short, long and medium term how they will perform.

To close, Mario Cilenti, Director of Major Sports Events at Panam Sports, gave an account of how the Olympic Movement is divided from the IOC, through the continental and regional sports organizations. In addition, he presented the different sporting events that take place in the Olympic cycle on the five continents, highlighting those of America.

Luis Mejia Oviedo, president of CACSO, showed his personal satisfaction and that of the organization he directs, after seeing the great affection and reception that those registered have given to the seminar through their reactions and questions.

“This is a seminar in which we seek to reach the entire sports family. We were thrilled to see your enthusiasm and participation and the interesting presentations on the first day, we hope you have the best of experiences. That is the intention of CACSO”, said Mejia.

Similarly, Eduardo Álvarez Camacho, Secretary General of CACSO and Chair of its Education Commission, offered a summary of what the first day was and extended the invitation to continue enjoying the seminar.

“Yesterday was an extraordinary day with four impeccable presentations. We received 382 questions, 32% of you participated. Soon through your e-mail we will be answering those questions and we will also provide them to all participants", Álvarez commented.
