Port of Spain, Trinidad, September 23 2016: Trinidad and Tobago’s Olympic athletes have received further financial assistance toward their training needs, thanks to Republic Bank Limited and VISA, worldwide sponsor of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
The two entities collaborated to assist the nation’s athletes both on and off the playing field, through a promotion, which allowed for Visa Credit Card customers, to donate to the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee’s (TTOC) #10golds24 Athlete Welfare and Preparation Fund, via their purchases. The funding, which amounted to TT$275,000, went toward helping the athletes train, recover and compete. The funds also provided direct support to the sportsmen and sportswomen, and buttressed their out of pocket expenses, medal and Olympic qualification bonuses, life skills, training and internship.
The Bank’s Marketing Manager, Product Management Credit, Damian Cooper, presented the cheque recently to the Trinidad and Tobago Olympic Committee’s (TTOC) President, Brian Lewis, at the Committee’s headquarters. Lewis expressed his gratitude to the Bank on behalf of the TTOC, applauding both Republic and its customers, for their successful efforts toward supporting local athletes.
