...plans to run T&T marathon
T&T’s Chief Justice Ivor Archie will lend support to the country’s bid to win ten or more Olympic gold medals by the 2024 Olympic Games (#10Golds24), by competing in the T&T Marathon Relay, on Sunday.
Chief Justice Archie ORTT and family will participate in the Marathon Relay to raise awareness for the initiative. The Marathon Relay allows a team of between two to six persons to compete as a team in the T&T International Marathon. If a team uses six persons each athlete will have to run seven kilometres.
The T&T International Marathon and Marathon Relay planned for Sunday morning seeks to raise awareness and funds for the #10Golds24 Athlete Welfare and Preparation Fund, which was created in 2015 to support the nation’s athletes. The fund is expected to provide health and financial support for Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth athletes.
The Chief Justice is a longstanding advocate of health and wellness, with particular emphasis on youth development and sport as a way of engaging young people positively and encouraging them to lead productive crime-free lives. His Lordship pledged his support and that of his family in December 2015 at the T&T Olympic Committee’s Annual Awards Ceremony.
