Tokyo 2020 organisers have announced the launch of the official mobile app for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, to mark a month to go until the Opening Ceremony.

The app will allow all information about the Games to be accessed in one place - including event results, competition schedules, the medal table, introductions to sports and venues and news and updates.

Users will be able to customise their preferences by selecting their favourite sports and teams, in order to receive specific reminders and notifications.

The journey of the Olympic Torch Relay will be shown on the app, with live streaming and highlights as it travels around Japan.

The app also includes FanZone, an interactive experience that makes information on game playing more engaging.

Games include trivia, "Magic Moments" and fantasy and bracket challenges to make predictions and learn about the Olympics.

The official app will be available in Chinese, English, French, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Spanish.

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 23 to August 8, followed by the Paralympics from August 24 to September 5.

They were postponed to 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, pushing them back one year.
